When I was a preteen watching Dallas, I thought being an adult would mean having a huge collection of slinky, shorty robes. And I do!

I feel like a kid when I crack open a new notebook! That is, I feel like Harriet the Spy.

Waking up at 4:30am 3 days a week to move my body without judgment (yay past body image hang ups) makes me feel very Adult. Swinging on swings makes me feel like I’m nine years old again, about to jump out of the seat and fly…

Playing "kitchen" wth my granddaughter, sitting on the floor with her as she "cooks" is my kid moment, definitely. I don't feel like a "papa" -- I feel like her friend. Grown up? Taxes. Preparing my taxes.

nothing makes me feel like a grownup. I have no idea what a grownup feels like. Nothing makes me feel like a kid either. Making things makes me feel like myself, but I'm neither a grownuo nor a kid. I'm just 82 year old me.

I look around my house and can't believe this is mine. The cars in the driveway, mine. All the furniture and the decor in the house, mine. The materials that I just purchased to remodel my husband's bathroom, mine. (I'm letting him use them. *wink*) I am the sole provider in our household and I never thought I would be. I look back and think how far I've come--from a riot grrrl defying her parents and mainstream society to (until recently) assistant vice president at a top public university. Oh, and being asked to join the grounds committee of our HOA--that's what grown-ups do.

I feel like a kid when I chase my dog at the dog park.

Every time I walk towards an airport check in and through security I feel grown up. Same when I get into a rental car somewhere in the world. It’s a very specific bodily feeling in my chest and in the way I walk. Never mind I’ve been traveling extensively for my work my whole adult life, it always feels the same and I love the feeling! I feel like a kid when I garden. I allow myself to play in the dirt, get muddy and play with the dogs. I have curly hair that catches random leaves and straw and I love the feeling of being thoroughly messy!

When people listen to what I say in meetings I'm always kind of surprised. Like, why are you listening to ME?? Oh, you mean it's becuase I've been doing it for more than 20 years? Huh. How about that. Also, realizing that I have friends and colleagues who are kind of important poeple - judeges, leaders of companies, chairs of hospital departments. What the heck? Does everyone know that these important people probably also have to stop on the way home to by kitty litter? I feel like I kid when I go swimming. I splash, I run into the water full tilt, I dive, I do flips. I'm a total child :)

What makes me feel like an adult is balancing my checkbook. What makes me feel like a kid is farting, especially farting exuberantly. Fortunately I married someone who feels the same #winning

As a fellow Gen X-er, I feel these feels deep down in my soul. No one tells you when you're a kid that you never stop "feeling* like a kid, you just stop *looking* like one.

I am definitely a groan up! And nothing quite makes me feel like a kid as much as my lack of interest in vegetables and preference for carbs and yogurt pops!

I'm ashamed to admit this but I have zero grown-up skills even now, in my very late childhood. We're talking 70's. The time this becomes evident is when bad things happen that require quick action and my brain reaches into the imaginary satchel always with me. My brain scours it for the most creative, unusual and effective solution while thinking, "Is this really happening? Gotta be kidding." Raised three kids, buried a husband, parents, but the side-eye, the rolled eye, hijack the situation into some snarky sphere.

Bumbling around my allotment makes me feel like a grown up, probably because most of the other people there are retirement age.

Swimming makes me feel like a kid. Summers spent underwater pretending I was a dolphin flash back and the freedom of water is just lovely.

When I was a a kid, I shuddered at the thought of naps and baths. I was a big girl! I didn't need a nap, and baths were for babies. Now that I AM a big girl, I love both naps and baths. They're even better when done together!

I feel like a grown up when I choose to have popcorn and a glass of wine for dinner😁. And no one tells me no.

At 44 I find it quite impressive that you make dinner 5-6 days a week. I have popcorn and wine for dinner at least once a week :)

To this day, nothing makes me feel like more of a grownup than uttering the phrase, "Can you pick up the dry cleaning?"
