"It only took me 90 years to realize that the milestone I am looking forward to now is my next breath. The party, the celebration, is that next breath. I do not need one more thing."
91, amazing. "I don’t want to go back. I know what happened in the past. It’s the surprise of not knowing what the present and future hold that I love and look forward to."
Speaking of aging role models, you'll do very nicely, thank you very much! I especially like your remark about bucket lists. Could never quite get my mind around that one either.
I absolutely love Sally-Jane! She doesn’t know this yet, but I’m her soul sister. I’ll be 80 in March & I’m having the kind of fabulous
party I know she’d love. (If only I knew her, I’d invite her.)I aspire to be like her at 91! Talk about joie de vivre & Jouissance! I’m definitely buying her book immediately!
Well, if you’re in Portland, Oregon on March 15, let me know and you’ll be invited. The birthday party will have a Great Gatsby theme & everyone is coming in costume! (I don’t know IRL, but I’ll bet you’d have a ball at this party.
In the meantime Sondheim’s Being Alive is one of my favorites ever. If you haven’t before try to get the version of it sung on the original cast album of Company which is what the song was written for sung by Dean Jones who played the lead character Bobby. It’ll blow your mind
I’m sorry about not sharing Love Is
It’s very private and personal as it was written for me by my composer musical director Robert Bendorf . he was one of my dear friends who died in the Aides crisis of the 1980’s. I cherish it as a shared communion of heart, mind and soul with him. I hope you understand ❤️🙏❤️
Somewhere in our communication cycle you sent me something that you might have thought you didn’t know me well enough to send. So let me tell you that you can send me anything because your previous notes to me tell me not only are we on the same page but we are as you have written “sisters” albeit 11 years apart. Leah we are of like minds. Ain’t that grand. In a world that appears to be narrowing as I write this I want to celebrate our cyber meeting ❤️❤️❤️
I so love hearing about your life, dreams, accomplishments, natural matter of fact wisdom and especially your voice singing...Love Is...blessings to you dear one.

Thanks for taking the ride with me ❤️❤️

Thank you my Queen ❤️
This was wonderful! My favorite line: "Never take a standing ovation for granted, even if you’re paying for it."
Me, too. She's got a lot of good zingers in here. Thanks, Doug.
Aha! You’ve been there too. Thanks for the share❤️❤️

I will definitely look for the version you’ve spoken of here. And oh yes, I love the musical Company. (Of course, I love all of Sondheim’s works.)
I completely understand about your song, that
glorious song written specifically for you, that song which belongs only to you.
I’m so very sorry that you lost your beloved friend in the AIDS crisis. I understand that grief deeply. I lost some friends to it as well.
Sending you love.
My dear Leah

Especially this: "It’s such a relief that I don’t have to bring the sun up every morning. That was exhausting. Today, questions are my safety net."
:-D
