My favorite questionnaires are where I alternate between snorting or chuckling and nodding emphatically, Yes! YES! This one was like that. The starter pistol comment prompted a rueful chuckle of recognition and the piece about death and that aging is not only the best game in town, but the only one. Yes, indeed.
This was all-around amazing. New goal, "be like Sasha."
In particular, this: "Learning and making mistakes and learning again and getting older is not only the best game in town, it is the only game in town. The only other option is delusion. There is a sign that hangs above our table: THE WORK IS SLOW."
THE ONLY OTHER OPTION IS DELUSION. How many of us live here 😆
Delightful! He and I are the same age -- I told my husband yesterday that it was weird to have had a kid at 23, a book at 29 but not a college degree until 53, and he said "It all worked out." But there's something that I feel like I have always resented about not doing things in the order other people did them. This interview reminds me to embrace where I am and let the rest of that go.
I'm with him on no stained clothing. And yes, trying to be ageless is delusional. But Sari, 56 is not old. 70 is old, and in my experience one is more likely to have experienced some of the more humiliating aspects of age by 70. AND still know your way around a computer. Though I am shakier on memes and IDK what all these abbreviations are, FWIW.
Not all Americans, love. There are more and more of us meditating, doing, changing, embracing our age. Please tell my husband about the beauty of unstained clothing. Thx for sharing your perspective.
So fun and wise, about acceptance and looking for a new uniform. Recently I have embraced button downs, to which I was allergic in previous decades. But now they make me feel cool and capable and the grungy 20 year old can still live in my head.
I can’t get enough of these. I got some good stuff out of this one, as I am turning 54 in less than a month, my child is spreading their wings and flying, and I’m left to figure out what I’m going to do in this next phase of my life. And I’ve decided to throw out all of my stained, ripped clothes and find a better uniform. Thank you.

Thanks, Sasha, for the delight this morning.

I know someone who wears comfortable stained clothes. Made me LOL. That’s laugh out loud for some. I used to think it was lots of love.

I love those coordinates in your life map!

So wise and only a year past 55? I’d hate to think it was sobriety.
😂 (But also reminder that Oldster is about getting older at every phase of life, and we don't age-shame in any direction.)
I lke the way he defies old age by accepting it ups and downers.

Really enjoyed his take on things!
As always, love these questionnaires! Thank you!

“I am told that there is less time than there was before.”
Weird! Right?
I struggle to wrap my head around this, too...
Love his upbeat sense of humor. Looking forward to the book; the cover is beautiful.
This guy's good! Like this guy.
💯

What a wonderful perspective 💙

So glad to know you enjoy these, Susan, and that this one really resonated for you!
