How lovely is this to start my day?!? Maybe it's just that we're so close in age (I just turned 51 on Jan 3), but Jonathan is delightfully familiar to me-- in his sense of humor, his response to being at this weird age when you're older but not yet "old", in his angst about not being more "established." Right there with you, sir. Can't speak for anyone else, but no worries, Jonathan. I like you very much. ♥
I absolutely love these questionnaire posts, Sari -- especially this one, since I'm 52 and experiencing very much what Jonathan is! They may be my favorite thing about Oldster 🙌
These questionnaires never fail to inspire and move me. I really like what Jonathan says about his favorite adult age is coming up soon.
Also, the childhood photo with comic artists is just wonderful--the pure joy of someone being immersed in something they love is amazing to witness. Makes me feel excited to nurture my sons' interests.
So, that was outside of Mort Walker's cartoon museum in Port Chester, NY. It was Marvel day and the folks included were: Walt Simonson, Louise Simonson, Chris Claremont, June Brigman, and Carl Potts (who was a local Westchester guy). That collection moved to Florida with Mort and when Mort died, it went to Caitlin at the Billy Ireland collection.
Great interview! He’s very funny... I’m going to remember that forest bathing can include being peaceful, primal screaming and hiding bodies. And yay for coffee and whiskey despite the acid-reflux.
I highly recommend the coffee ordered from Porto Rico in NYC and Blade & Bow for American Whiskey or Laphroaig for Scottish whisky (if you like smokey/peaty)
I love these so much! And this one really resonates with me. I'm 47, so the Gen X humor gets me. I totally know what he means, too, about feeling like people that were 50 seemed old when we were kids, but Gen X is really doing 50 differently, so it's confusing!
Oh my god the WRIST WALLET
I felt very rich.

Awww, thank you, Terrell! This means a lot to me. <3

Jonathan is a true mensch.
Why were you in the park with Chris Claremont and Weezie when you were a kid?

Yeah lol.
I also just love the term "Gen X". Makes us sound cooler than all those other generations!
Thanks Douglas Coupland, LOL.
Lovely
I laughed so hard at the GERD comment. I never knew it was a Jewish thing but that makes sense.
I've always heard that we Ashkenazi's are weak-stomached. I'm not lactose-intolerant, thank bejeebeus, but that acid reflux is The Big FU.
True story: last night, at 57, this half-Ashkenazi/half-Sephardic lady had GERD for the first time.
What are you drinkin' up in New Paltz?!? LOL
I don't even drink! 😂
I feel like we need to introduce you to some more college students, LOL.
Donald Trump gave me acid reflux. And I’m an Ashkenazi Jew. OY.
Gen X for the win!
I love those memes where Gen X is sipping martinis while Millennials and Boomers are going at it, ha!
Nice interview.
I don't know if anyone has linked to yesterday's segment on the Brian Lehrer show:

Oh, nice. It's about that Jennifer Senior piece in The Atlantic where she mentions Oldster!

Yeah, I think we look fabulous as a whole, ha!

Geez, did I hitch my wagons to the wrong freakin' trains, LOL!
it's ok. when i was eight or nine, i wrote in my diary i wanted to have sex with michael jackson 🤣💀
There were a few responses I had to this and then stopped myself... every... time...
🤣🤣🤣
