I think my tombstone should simply read: She cut her bangs. She grew them out. Repeat.

I'm gifting my partner and one of my best friends jars of goodness from Barnacle foods this year. They're a tiny company out of Juneau, Alaska that are making pickles and hot sauce and chili crisp and all sorts of other deliciousness focused around kelp, which is a sustainable, indigenous food along the Alaskan coast. My partner is getting the kelp pickles and my friend is getting the chili crisp. If they're as good as I hope I will be ordering from them again and again. https://www.barnaclefoods.com/pages/our-origins

Thanks for the memories and suggestions. I'm the younger of Irish twin sisters. My sister (Chrissy) got red- haired Crissy for Xmas. The next year I got the Velvet doll with blonde hair.

My favorite was a Baby First Step doll. She had batteries in her back and could walk.

Most memorable gift: Little Woman hardbound when I was 12. It solidified my adoration of story and how sublime it is to absolutely disappear into different lives.

This is a lovely idea. I am terrible - seriously terrible - at gift giving. I freeze up and have no idea what to "get" for loved ones. Thanks for this resource. (PS I am SO terrible at gift giving that I couldn't respond to your request to contributors for ideas!)

I swear that I thought the Crissy doll was called Skipper. Glad to be corrected. I also wished people could grow their hair this way (Supreme Being: take note for future improvements.) I loved this list and ordered granola & coffee immediately. So many great ideas on here for year round giving. Thank you!

My favorite holiday gift was a Baby First Step doll. She was about a foot and a half tall I think and was battery-activated to walk and even skate. I was so happy the morning I found mine under the tree. My sister was indifferent to hers but I grabbed mine and hugged it wearing the biggest bucked-tooth smile.
