I love reading about the average Joe and Jane rather than a “celebrity” or “personality.” Their stories and perspectives are more heroic to me as they are unknowns, living their lives, offering pearls.

I love everything you publish and write. Oldster is genius. I have quotes such as "I have no more fucks left to give" and someone reporting a bumpersticker "I love aging and dying" that I repeat to myself all the time. I like the essays you write about your own life, both current and from the past. You have such a wonderful writing style. I got to spend the morning reading the roundup, clicking and reading almost every link, as if I was reading a book. Thanks, as always, for what you do. You touch people's lives and inspire.

I love it all! I do really like the way the questionnaire sometimes seems to lead people to things they didn't know they thought.

I love the people whose lives are revealed by your thoughtful questions. I love thinking about how I'd answer the same questions and imagining how different folks might answer them. Aren't we all here for discovery of ourselves and of others? I know I am.

How can I put this succinctly? Your email is one of the only ones I want to read! Love all the features—links roundups, the questionnaire, your stories, guests’ stories, etc. Love love love that you’re Gen X, interesting, compassionate, and discerning!

Congrats on Oldster being chosen (again) as a Featured Publication on Substack! I'm not surprised, mind you, but I am pleased that SS recognized this amazing journal you have grown. My favorite things are the questionnaires and the essays. That Joy Castro essay, Burning It Down, continues to resonate for me. (And no wonder it was mentioned in Best American Essays!.) Thank you for Oldster.

If pressed to choose, I'd say I like the questionnaires the best. Sari, have you answered the questionnaire? If so, can you post the link? I'd love to re-read it.

Congrats! Oldster is really a balm for my soul, as someone who constantly fears they’re behind in life. Reading about all the love, adventures, friendships, surprises, creativity, etc. people continue to cultivate throughout the decades is inspiring.

I’m new to The Oldster and I’m absolutely loving it - I feel as if I’ve come home to a likeminded tribe. I’m steadily working my way through past issues each morning, and really enjoying all, in particular the questionnaires. Thank you - and a very Happy New Year to you all!

I love the way that in Oldster aging can be high energy or calm or thoughtful or just funny. It's a joy.

Hi..Oldster "newbie" here... I was almost relieved to find a space that doesn't want to sell me a cane or promise exceptional living accommodations in my golden years...lol. I'll be 60 in this next year and I sure can't believe it! I'm still rocking to Alice Cooper and had my own "wake" for Eddie Van Halen. I think I'm just nearing my 40s! Where the heck did 60 come from! I'm looking forward to finally being able to be in a like-minded space. Cheers!
