I loved Carlene Bauer's book too, and I am still sort of mad that it didn't get more coverage and attention. Going to see Lucinda Williams in October and very much looking forward to it.
Yeah, that book was amazing. It was so relatable, I felt as if Bauer might have been spying on me in the 90s. 😂 I need to look into Lucinda Williams tickets...
Fun list! Note on Barbie movie - as a 45 year old, I too thought is was a little light on the feminism message, but for my 19 year old stepdaughter, it was hugely impactful and she has been telling everyone about it. ⚡️
Thanks for the update on the Henrietta Lacks' family--I taught this book for years in writing classes, because the braided structure is so expertly woven and the message about medical rights so profound. An amazing book. Appreciate your weekend roundups, always.

This is such a fun read! I can't wait to check out all the new music.
Another amazing link round-up! Wondering if you've heard of the Substack "New Music for Olds" by Christian Finnegan as well.
Oh, yes. Someone recommended it last time! I love that title. Will subscribe...
I really enjoyed Rebecca Skloot's book! I think I read it when it first came out in 2010.
And, I just did a piece on Edutainment! Small world; great minds.
Ha! Yes, great minds...
Thanks for including me in the Barbie discourse, Sari!
My pleasure. Thanks for a piece that really resonated!
Quite an amazing treasure trove of wonderful links. Thanks!
Enjoy!

I just discovered Wolf Alice earlier today and am sending a note to a friend who loves Throwing Muses -- that's what it reminds me of
