I loved Carlene Bauer's book too, and I am still sort of mad that it didn't get more coverage and attention. Going to see Lucinda Williams in October and very much looking forward to it.

Yeah, that book was amazing. It was so relatable, I felt as if Bauer might have been spying on me in the 90s. 😂 I need to look into Lucinda Williams tickets...

I really enjoyed Rebecca Skloot's book! I think I read it when it first came out in 2010.

And, I just did a piece on Edutainment! Small world; great minds.

Fun list! Note on Barbie movie - as a 45 year old, I too thought is was a little light on the feminism message, but for my 19 year old stepdaughter, it was hugely impactful and she has been telling everyone about it. ⚡️

Thanks for the update on the Henrietta Lacks' family--I taught this book for years in writing classes, because the braided structure is so expertly woven and the message about medical rights so profound. An amazing book. Appreciate your weekend roundups, always.
