OMG the Vulture site 404/not found error on "and the band will reunite for some shows" link... I guess it makes that statement the hottest rumor in my world!
I have closed and reopened my phone several times this morning after going through this publication. I wished you had stayed true to it’s title, but it was not to be. What occurred yesterday was a serious event whose effect will come with the fullness of time. This comes from someone who’s memories of our tumultuous political history goes back through that day in Dallas in 1963. And the addition of Rosie O’ Donnell and her history of “ objection “ to the former president was hopefully inadvertent. You have every right to present what you wish, as I have to financially support within Substack.
Oh I loved This is Us too and Ron Cephas Jones was the highlight. He was also great in Mr Robot, night and day in terms of characters. I must go through his back catalogue.
Regarding Paulina, hmm, I'm not totally sure. I think she's probably right about what it's like for women in her world of fashion, models and money, but does the average woman get this kind of feedback? I just don't see it. But I'm quite the contrarian so maybe I'm refusing to see it.
Osteoporosis! Nooooo. When I broke my tibia and fibula 10 years ago during roller derby, I was in my 40s and a doctor told me to take vitamin C and to stop smoking (I didn't smoke). I healed very well. I also did some basic weight bearing exercises. Maybe that's something? I'm sure you'll get plenty of advice. My best to you.
Re Grace and Frankie, the most poignant moment was later in the series and it was about Frankie and chopsticks. I won't forget it. I won't spoil it but it was important to me.
And yes to pointing to the archive. I'm new so that's helpful.
The Laurie Jones story is wonderful.
PS Joyce, write something for Oldster, or take the Questionnaire? oldstermag@gmail.com
You mean Laurie Stone? She is a gem!
Oy. That’s what happens when I post before coffee
Love these eclectic roundups. Rare not to find something that sparks a thought or gives valuable information.
My wife and I really like Marilyn Minter and own a few of her photographs. We didn't know she had new work out and ordered the book. Thanks!
We particularly like this one:

Oh, that one is fantastic. Thanks for the kind words! Glad you're enjoying these!
I found it irritating in so many ways…

Ack, sorry! I've fixed the broken links...
Wow! My hopes are raised! I'll go click again!
Sari, what do you think of this story in the Atlantic on "the new old age?" https://www.theatlantic.com/culture/archive/2023/08/career-retirement-transition-academic-programs/675085/
Haven't had a chance to read it yet but I'll check it out!
I'll never forget those photos in the Times about sex after 70; I spent far too long trying to figure just what exactly I was looking at.
Just realized I had a broken link to that Guardian piece. Updated!
It's "perfect" right now. We don't own any other time.
Great roundup! Like a very tasty and provocative buffet for the weekend--raining here, so perfect.
Enjoy.
Thanks, Sari!!!!

Huge thanks, dear Sari, for listing my story "Cake" in "Dirt."
A pleasure. What a fun read!

I loved Mr. Jones as William. I loved everyone on that show, but his portrayal of William was possibly my favorite. I'm also feeling bereft.
Glad you're responding to so many of the links, Jo. And glad to have you aboard...
I love your roundups
Thank you for saying so, Chris. <3
