Oooh--how about Michael Musto doing a questionnaire?
Tres chic
PS--Martha Martha Martha--those of w money do it, those without, wish they could at least afford it and reject it if that is what they want. Viagra is covered by Medicaid. Go figure.
Thank you for sharing Janet Steen’s Lithub piece. It was beautiful, and so closely described my experience of grief when my Dad died suddenly in Feb 2020 (and meditation, which helped, as did Nick Cave’s book). Beauty has finally returned for me, too. Losing writing was scary, but that too is coming back.
The film "A Small Light" about Miep Gies and Anne Frank is off to an excellent start with the first episode (all I've seen yet) with its black and white tho shot in color evocation of Amsterdam during the 2nd World War. I've been to the Anne Frank Museum and Amsterdam's Resistance Museum and the show matches perfectly the images I took from my experiences there. The series is playing on Hulu and Disney.
Sari, thanks for a great roundup. And this: I did a brief stint at Paper for Kim and David in the early '90s (magazine layout, paste-up, the old-school way, with wax). Small world, and nice to meet you here!
You have now filled my weekend with good stuff to catch up on. And how did I know about Dorothy Parker's Ashes? Thank you thank you! (And we need to hear you and Valerie in convo on that subj.) xo
I still live in Brooklyn, not far from his old neighborhood. At this end of the borough, we are as unhip as ever. But, I am sure there are bunches of us cool babes sprinkled about.
I have started writing about what it feels like to be turning 80. I agree that it is very different for men. Looks are not really relevant, agency and influence matter more.
Sari, if you do a podcast on the Martha thing, please LMK as I have a lot to say. xo
Fantastic! Will definitely do this and include you.
Looking forward... it's such a hot-button. xo
Thank you--l loved his responses
He's incredible!

Michael Musto took the questionnaire! https://oldster.substack.com/p/this-is-66-michael-musto-responds (I link to it in the roundup.)
So much juicy content here! Thank you for sharing 😊

*gasps* Janet Steen’s essay murdered and resurrected this poor soul. Thanks?
But really. Thanks, Sari.
It’s a real beauty! Glad to know it moved you.

Nice to “meet” you!

So much to read, see, and hear. So little time left. Is that what I should be doing?
I’m happy for you that you are now in a good relationship. That makes it all worth it.
Right?
