“Mothering doesn’t get easier with age—it is a real job with responsibilities that remain invisible, undervalued, and unsupported by resources essential for mental, emotional, and physical sustainability. I’ve also been shown strengths I didn’t know I had, fears I didn’t know existed, and a fierce love that somehow carries it all.” Mic drop!🫶🏽
Hi Prajna, yes mom of two. Someone who follows my writing about family once asked, "How many kids do you have again?" because the way I write makes it sound like I have sixteen, lol. I find it all so intense while rewarding, just so much jiu-jitsu to parent from actual love while also supporting my needs in a culture that consistently tries to take away the dignity of it all. Anyway, I really enjoyed your interview! Appreciate you right back.
What a story! Breaking her leg in 3 places to stop the bike feels like such a major metaphor. For the fierce protective power of mothers, for our instincts bubbling from so deep within that tell us to STOP what we're doing and head down a different path.
“If it doesn’t bring warmth to your life and creativity, walk the other way…”
This is a rich and vibrant writing Prajna. Thank you for allowing us to glean from the hard earned treasures of your life and for walking with and alongside a growing number of women who are sick and tired of not belonging to themselves. 💥
Lila, I love your response and encouragement. Thank you for being part of this beautiful wise, powerful sisterhood with all of your artistic gifts and beauty.
Although I often feel out of my league reading your writings on the SALTY CRONE, I read it over many times and do my best to grasp your wisdom. Reading your book I cried through many chapters as much as I was awed by your love and strength. I get why you believe in the idea of patriarchy fuckery because I’ve known plenty of that in my life, not as much as you but enough. I just fell into a ring of love and found a man who is like no other and we raised two sons who always treat women as the goddesses of nature that they are and we taught them to believe. However reading you on SubStack has forced me to keep learning and keep my mind open even wider. Thank you for you! I love this interview and your sharing who you are with all of us privileged enough to see it. Thank you to Sari for giving it to us as well. Powerful and inspirational!
Awww dear Kathy, thank you for your ongoing support and for reading.
There are so many good men in the world. Patriarchy is not against men. They are harmed by it as women are sometimes more so. You are lucky to have found a good man and to raise your son so beautifully. good for you.
I have three brothers and so many wonderful male friends that I love.
Patriarchy is a power dynamic, a power over that is enacted and does harm to all beings. Sending you love and appreciation.
salty crone - as always I am inspired and rejoice in we women - the narratives that we are fed are there to be questioned - the best way to do this is not take them as truths, it opens up other avenues too - in seeing beyond the appearance reality disparity.
Beautiful interview, Prajna. Lots of wisdom and whimsy, here, and what an epic journey to becoming the Salty Crone. Appreciation and goodwill, ~stephanie

Yes! And here’s another mic drop moment:
“Now, soul nourishment comes from choosing to turn away from what doesn’t warm a creative life and from leaning into places that do.”
I’m living by those words from this second onwards!
Thank you Wini.
Thank you for reading Kara. Are you a mom? I appreciate you.
