Very relatable. Especially "It’s interesting to me how quickly our sense of identity changes. I was the co-founder and co-CEO of a music company for almost 28 years and it was a huge part of who I was. We sold our company in 2018 and a few months later, it was almost as if that role had been occupied by someone else. Life often feels less like a continuum to me and more like a group of almost discrete chapters." I owned my own talent agency for 35 years (we actually booked a couple of Kids Bop kids) and retired at the end of 2022. Five months in and poof that role is indeed occupied by someone else and I'm in a new discrete chapter.
I loved and related to everything he said. Then I found out he’s responsible for Kidz Bop and that tempered my enthusiasm lol. In all seriousness, shortly before reading this my husband (almost 61) and I (almost 62) had a conversation about our hopes, dreams, philosophy at this state and they very much align with the sentiment expressed here. Though maybe I need to put Burning Man on my bucket list.
Your perspective is just awesome Cliff! Your answers ring so true for me.
I think the overarching best answer to the question, “What is the best age to be?” is “”The age I am right now”.

I’m not rushing to 90 but I think I will find something about 90 that is just great!
Your mother is an inspiration and by the way, so are you!
Wonderful wisdom in this piece. Ara
