Gayle's writing has always been a pleasure to read, and this is no exception. I would say she is a mensch, but I guess that is sexist.

This is a heartwarming read and I am also off to grab your book! I guffawed at the nod to zoom neck.🀣 Put me in mind of Ephron’s β€œI Feel Bad About My Neck”! I read that so long ago and tried to take preemptive maintenance action. Didn’t last long and now, as I approach middle 60s, I’m in a rip tide of β€œoh, SHIT!” and β€œmeh.β€πŸ™ŒπŸ»

A beautiful essay about embracing the change that aging brings.

Did we just not notice our necks before Zoom??? I totally agree about the turtleneck making me a better listener instead of the distraction of a wrinkly neck AND multiple chins. Oy.

This was beautiful and inspiring. Looking forward to checking out her work.

P.S. I hope I look like that at 54!

OMG! ... (as I sit reading this in my turtleneck, after having given a presentation at a hybrid in-person/zoom meeting today.) Your writing and images dance over me like water in a shallow, pebbled stream. I'm ordering your new book as soon as I post this. Thank you!
