I whizzed through The Four Seasons and loved it; then rewatched the original Alan Alda film of it (which I hadn’t seen for many years) to compare and contrast. Also excellent, of course.

I’ve been watching Andor with my son (dubbed ‘Star Wars for grown-ups’), have to wait a couple of days before watching the final three, so avoiding spoilers. Little bit in love with Diego Luna!

I need to rewatch the movie! First time I’m hearing of Andor…

Andor is very popular with the youngsters, but my son convinced me I’d love it and I did/do. (This is season 2.) Created by Tony Gilroy who wrote the Bourne movies.

It’s set before Star Wars A New Hope and is about the formation of the rebellion against the empire. Really well done. Superb sets and costumes. I’m not a massive Star Wars fan but this hit the spot. Maybe you need to watch with an enthusiastic Gen Z to really appreciate it, not sure! Wouldn’t have discovered it on my own!

My son also introduced me to Andor - it's definitely a good watch. Also, love The Mandalorian - despite rarely seeing Pedro Pascale's face!

Interesting that you found Andor the same way, Linda! I watched a bit of The Mandalorian (again urged by my son to give it a try) but didn’t get hooked on that!

"The Four Seasons" was one of those movies that was on cable when we got cable when I was 15 (1983). To me, it epitomized adulthood! (That and the New Yorker I bought at B. Dalton at the mall). This one being centered on Gen Xers really tickled me!

I think I went to see the first one on a date with my first boyfriend in 1981! I was 16.

I’d been wondering about the Four Seasons. Hard to argue with the talent assembled there. We’ll give it a watch! Also, do you know Maryjane Fahey? Is it possible she was an art director I worked with at the start of my life at Men’s Health?

It’s very watchable, and gets better as the series goes on. I do know her, and that is very likely! In her bio here she says se was an art director at magazines. https://oldster.substack.com/p/this-is-75-glorious-broad-maryjane

I always take time to read most of what you offer the universe. I am grateful for your lively mind and compelling enthusiasms, esp when they are new to me(Im 77). We dont know all that is required for you to do what you do. So please accept my gratitude for the consistency of your working process. It cant be easy. And it is working to shed light.

Highly recommend the Amy Sherald exhibition. I had a quick trip to NYC last month and it was top of my list.

This Gen Xer attended the Jason Isbell concert in Walla Walla last night, and it was awesome. Spending as much time offline as humanly possible.

I've found volunteering to be a the perfect antidote for the cruel and devaluing actions and statements coming from the current administration. Delivering meals through Meals on Wheels lets me see parts of town I was unaware of and peek into the homes of struggling neighbors I didn't know I have. Start local. If you can't do something big, do something small. It really does help me cope through this awful season.

I saw the The Four Seasons movie in a theater in 1981 (I was 22). I had a major crush on Alan Alda (M*A*S*H fanatic), so seeing his image projected on the big screen for an hour and 47 minutes was surreal. I also have a major crush on Tina Fey ("I want to go to there."). So, when I got an alert that she, Will Forte, and the co-creators of the new show were doing an advanced screening of the first two episodes followed by a live chat at the 92nd Y, I was there. Again, in a dark theatre, watching The Four Seasons on a big screen (this time for 57 minutes), laughing as one with the audience. Tina then talked about how much she loves Alan Alda and her experience acting with him during his second episode cameo. Of course I screamed as he appeared on the big screen. Surreal!
