This was beautiful. I often find the natural world a great way to enter my own stories. A tortoise helped me write about my father's Alzheimer's, a range of shelled animals helped me examine the way I cloister and protect myself. If you haven't read The Sound if a Wild Snail Eating by Elisabeth Tova Bailey I highly recommend it.
