Sari, am absolutely loving your work! Yes! Linda Ronstadt, my hero. Not only did her soul-lifting voice accompany me on more runs than I can count but reading her interviews where she speaks of no longer being able to sing (because of a neuromuscular disease), yet is still able to hear herself sing in her mind, helped me get over the fact that I can no longer run after back surgery. I, too, now "run" in my mind. And thanks, too, for the playlist. Please keep doing this. So great to find new and interesting music. Really am appreciative of all that you do!
So many goodies, thanks, Sari! Plenty of reading while I listen to that great playlist this weekend. And will totally check out your new East Side Yenta newsletter. Will you be getting into the matchmaking business, catering to oldsters, LOL?
I had thought of "Oldster Personals" but that's a whole other business! (And I got the name because I have introduced a number of people to their spouses.)
There is so much here thank you so much and especially for acknowledging Linda Ronstadt. Wow that is amazing that they name a day after her birthday awesome and good to know.
My Gawd!! The Danyel Smith piece in the New Yorker Magazine is the reason I work with women to unsilence themselves. This is a larger-than-life version of the way many women live, which causes us to lose our sovereignty, to become invisible. Such an important piece!
I was an Associated Press journalist, covering the legislature in Pennsylvania for years and will tell you that even at that level, the story is the same. It’s horrific to feel silenced as a journalist, afraid to tell one’s own story. Brava to Danyel!
Danyel Smith's article -- wow! Over the past few years since I left my last workplace, I've been thinking about the effect on women of living with sexism in our professional lives, even when we recognize it but especially when we don't at first and later do.

Thank you! As a fairly recent oldster, I really enjoy your content!
Hey Sari

I love that note!
Me, too. <3

Truly! Glad you're doing that work. (It's in the New York Times Magazine, not The New Yorker.)

Charlie Harper, lead singer of English punk band UK Subs, is 80 years old and still going strong!
"He still typically performs between 150 and 200 gigs per year with the UK Subs"

Amazing! Thank you.
Fontaines DC are Irish! Great list otherwise
Thank you. Fixed!

Oh, yes. I've been having a reckoning of my own, reviewing my experiences in the 80s and 90s, and it is not pretty.
