Thank you so much for including "How is Caregiving Different for Members of the LGBTQ+ Community?" I don't think most people who are not queer have any concept about how potentially damaging/dangerous medical care can be for us. Especially as we get older, and many of us live, or may end up actually living, in the midst of "care" givers with no way out, this is a critical issue.
What a great list, and it gets me thinking! I wrote last week about the #ILookMyAge campaign (https://flowerchild.substack.com/p/i-look-my-age) and feel like I still have much more to say about this. LOVE the photo of Isabella Rossellini!
Have you seen this NYT article? https://www.nytimes.com/2023/09/20/well/mind/aging-health-benefits.html - forgive me if you've mentioned it and I missed that. I appreciate its focus on not fearing aging and the benefits of that, but it also veers close to that victim-blaming line that people often cross when they think, for example, that positive thinking will cure a cancer patient ...
Anyway, thanks for what you're doing — it's great to see a realistic focus on older people!
Funny, I almost posted someone's funny response to that NYT article! I haven't posted the article. I can't find that response now, but it was funny. Thanks for the kind words!
I love Menopause: A Comic Treatment!
Only in Italy would you see a beautiful, untouched photo of an "older" woman on a magazine cover. Wonderful round up. Thx.
Glad you enjoyed it. <3
Thank you for including us, Sari! Here's to whatever the middle is, whenever it begins, and whenever it ends.
<3
Grateful you included my essay from The Ethel! I am delighted to be a subscriber of Oldster Magazine and wish you a happy year 2 and beyond.
