I can totally relate to this. At 67 I am playing my guitar (for hours!) after half heartedly dicking around for decades. Part of my book collection is rock n roll biographies from my many heroes where I also find they are not confident in their abilities (I am validated!) I am just glad I am doing it. This year my goal is to do an open mic and I will! From another tattooed, f bomb dropping senior. Look forward to reading your new book.
I love this! I'm so glad you broke out of your old fears and constraints and did it. YOU DID A THING--THAT THING. I went over to Bandcamp and listened to your songs. You can sing! You must know that, but just in case, you needed to hear it again 🎤Doll Named Body is groovin'. Congratulations on the book and your songs! 🍾
Thank you for reminding us that we can’t be great or even good at everything. Yes. OK is OK too. But can we accept and even learn from our total flops? That’s the question and the aspiration.
I loved your bravery in pursuing the singing addition. Great idea! The songs were wonderful (except, on my link anyway, the second song cut out abruptly at the end before it finished). I have the book and look forward to reading it. As one 66-year-old writer/sometimes singer to another, I say: Write on and Rock on!
I love this! What a cool idea for a book tie-in. And the songs are great. A recurring theme in Oldster (and in my life, when I’m brave enough to heed it) is overcoming our fears and conditioning to Just Do the Thing, whatever that may be. Brava!
Very inspiring! Good for you! I have a weird completely unrelated question. I’m curious about the great portrait on your new book cover. It looks like a real painting and I wondered who the artist is. I love it. Thank you!
This will make you laugh - I asked Claude (AI) to look at the photo of the cover and identify the artist and Claude responded that it didn’t look like AI, it looked like a painting but Claude didn’t know who painted it and suggested I ask Regal. Ha ha!
Thank you. "Vulnerable and ferocious" are a perfect pair of attributes.
Wow. You are a great singer, a bit Patti Smith-ish (and Carly Simon yes!)
Love the whole endeavour you went into, so brave, and I will go buy your book now.
You are an inspiration! 💜
WOW thank you so much and your voice is beautiful
Very nice, Jessica. Here's to taking risks and "elaborate swearing" :)
BRAVO! So very inspiring.❤️
So inspiring!

The songs are great 😊🙏🎶

How great. Courageous. Good for you.
"I can’t be great, or even good, at everything. I can be just okay." Words to live by ... I just bought a bass and a set of lessons.

Thank you! I love the cover, too, but don't know who did it. Regal House did a great job with the book.
I had the very same thought! LOVE the cover, can't wait to read the book!
I wrote to Regal House but…crickets
wonder if it's AI-generated? Otherwise, the artist would be/should be credited.
Credited on the copyright page.
Oh good! Thanks. I don’t have a copy of the book in front of me (yet). Who is credited?

Wow.
LOL...and scary all at once😦
A beautiful and honest reflection on courage, vulnerability, and finding your true voice. Thank you for sharing this inspiring journey.
