Some Oldster-adjacent content to take you through the weekend and beyond. PLUS: "The Oldster Top 10," Cliff Chenfeld's monthly playlist of new songs for old ears.
I love these round-ups, Sari, and am looking forward to the Billy Joel doc. I have to say that I may be the only person on the planet who finds David Sedaris deeply unfunny. Humor is a subjective art, but some of those "steady downpour of tears..." outside Sloan-Kettering have been mine, so ouch, dude! I keep wanting to write him and tell him (I've heard he's a nice guy and will sit a signing line until the cows come home.)
I feel like Iāll be reading this all weekend - so much good stuff here. Thanks, Sari! Itās really fun and inspiring to see what youāve built with Oldster and watch it keep evolving and expanding.
I am enjoying the British/Australian miniseries "Mixtape". Two people who were in love in the early 1990's meet years later. Nicely sentimental exploration of love, life, missed chances, loss, and has a banging indie soundtrack.
What a week for gen x :( and elder millennials :(
Right? People should not die in their 40s and 50s⦠š
Now I have my weekend's reading all lined up. Wow. Thanks, Sari!
I aim to please! Enjoy.
Just feeling the same! SO much here!
Shame that the Billy Joel doc isn't available in the UK...yet. CANNOT wait!
I'm happy to report Part II was good, too! Yes, hope you can get it soon.
How lovely to see Laurenās essay in your beautiful round up! Thank you for including it!šø
Live Aid, USA for Africa, Farm Aid - those were the days.
I canāt believe we are out of the honorable business of helping people.
So much good reading here I got waylaid before your generous mention! Thanks, as always, Sari!
My pleasure! <3

Nice. Thanks for sharing that.
Great posts, always, including this one. Thank you.
PS. I think Andrea's Gibson's pronouns are they/them.
You're right. Fixing... Thank you.

Yeah, he makes me cringe sometimes, too. I totally get it!
Gen X author and musician Tamra Lucid's husband announced on Instagram that she passed away in Los Angeles. Her memoir is so good, "Making the Ordinary Extraordinary." Here is an interview with her from 2022: https://legsville.com/punk-metaphysics-a-conversation-with-tamra-lucid/
