Your account of your parents' insistent, conscious, purposeful love brings tears to my eyes. You have obviously embodied that love. Your courage and resilience in facing this scary challenge is inspiring. Thank you for writing this--I look forward to your book!

I nursed my mom through heart failure and have seen how debilitating it can be. This piece of prose shows such beautiful strength, bravery, love, and gratitude in the face of challenge— this is the hero(ine)’s journey. Thank you for letting me read it.

Thank you. I do not believe in coincidences, so I am in awe, once again, of how wonderfully God flows through my life, bringing my attention to all I need to see and hear. Your voice throughout your whole story is so piercingly steady and balanced. This was my first read of my day. How perfect that is shared in Oldster, once again, breaking barriers.

Thank you for writing this. It's a book we need to read, and I especially appreciated your description of your parents. I find your father's love and attitude inspirational. I hope I have encouraged my own daughter like that, and helped her find that resilience.

Thank you, Evette Dionne, for telling about your life, and thank you, Oldster, for amplifying Dionne's voice. This is the way we all need to learn about each other's lives: with a heartfelt truth and clarity that includes all the complexity and nuance of life, without trying to pinpoint what's "good" or "bad," contending with all of it as it is. I look forward to reading the book!

Best top of the day read! Words weighed, like food and liquid intake measured for effect and purpose. Meaningful, heart rending and at the same time uplifting.

I fully accept we are all mortal, yet I don't believe most of us breathe in and wonder if it's our last breath. I am wowed by Evette's courage in living her life in the face of early heart failure. I'm hoping for a miracle cure -- in the meantime, I'll read her book and pass it along to others.

Sending you positive thoughts all the way from Manila. It's inspiring how you're able to draw such eloquence and clarity from a very challenging experience. Also loved the tribute you gave your parents, especially what you wrote about your father. May you all continue to give each other strength.
