That was one of the funniest things I've read in forever. No metaphors, no literary devices...

Thank you, Tracy!

Oh, Chris .... I laughed until I cried. And your husband said it all: "This thing is just writing itself." MARVELOUS!

I'm so glad you enjoyed! Thanks, Jeanne!

“It was like spotting a leprechaun.” Didn’t see that coming.

As someone who knows I will probably never get my mother out of her house I'm cheering you on from over here. What an epic, loving, hilarious, maddening thing you are doing. Bravo!

Sari, you bring us the best people, I swear. Thank you.

I've got a similar story in reverse. Coming from CA to Shokan, NY to assist with the care of my 94 year old Dad. So many obstacles but also wonderful surprises. Thanks for sharing!

Hilarious and poignant. I stay with my 92-yo mother every other week and it’s frustrating what with her failing memory. She, alas, has neither cat nor dog, the companionship of which would help her tremendously.

I’m glad the kitty is happy.

The pets are so important! Thanks, Teri.

I need to call out how sly your Mom is looking in all those photos, even over breakfast: Clearly she is up to something...

Chris Wells's avatar

That’s hysterical. And you’re SO RIGHT! She’s sly. 💕
