Thank you for this! I just celebrated forty years, and in my twenties and early thirties we too danced all night at sober dances in Seattle and then in Zihuatanejo, where one could dance outside, staying close to beautiful sober friends from all over the world. Mary Karr rocks. I read Lit at least twice, and then had the fortune to meet her at the New Yorker Festival when she and Tobias Wolff chaired a presentation about writing memoir and how people in one's life respond. I love how you share all the ways that work for you. It reminded me that I've had far more fun sober than I ever had drunk or high. Still do every day!

Thank you for this, I have not read Heavy so it is now on my wish list. I am sober 23 years and offer Yoga of Recovery - holistic health for long term emotional sobriety. I published my first book"Yoga of Recovery" in May 2022. Now I'll go explore The Small Bow : )

Thanks Sari, YoR is for those who struggle and suffer. Those who are beginning to suspect that the way we’re living is not sustainable. We feel the pain of the stress and striving of our life. We feel the loneliness. We notice often resorting to a range of behaviors and substances – whether it be drinks, drugs, shopping, gambling, acting out in relationships - and yet still feel something is lacking.

So now we’re ready,

Ready to say I’m done with it

YoR offers Yoga and Ayurveda to guide us to a life where we feel a sense of purpose, vitality and connection. Simple, soothing, sweet practices help us feel truly empowered and guide us to live fully, one day at a time ; )
