YESSSSSS! NYAD is such a great movie! I laughed so much about how maniacal Diana was and her friend Bonnie was incredibly patient with her until she wasn't, and the reckoning Diana needed. Such an inspiring watch + Annette Bening and Jodie Foster - brilliant!❤️🥰💪
This is one of your best round-ups ever. I wish the Jong story hadn't slighted her other work, especially "Fear of Fifty." I absolutely love that book.
I've started Barbra's memoir (audio version) and I'm so excited. So far, so excellent. But, you wouldn't expect anything less with her. It's delicious.
Every other Friday you do this catalogue of what you've noticed lately? What a great time saver for everyone. The one that grabbed me was Elders don't retire. Neither do artists. Before my father died at 90 he often said this about retirement: When did I ever have time to go to the office? His children are all the same prolific people.
Yes, I do this every other Friday, alternating with open threads. Glad you liked this, and that particular piece, and that it prompted you to share that line from your dad.
I love the Hank Azaria piece on Perry and AA, and the Leonard Cohen video! Thank you for sharing all of these inspiring works. Your earnest face in the side-by-side pic with Maggie Smith is precious. I love thoughtful, interesting, interested people over 50!
I really enjoyed the Cathrin Bradbury on unretirement. I felt a lot of it viscerally. I'm 72, done with paid work and one board meeting away from the end of non-profit volunteering, and free to be a writer and sometimes advisor. And yet. Did I save enough? Should I chase a grant? I'd love if you could get Cathrin "on the show".
SO much great stuff! Thanks for taking the time to do this every week, Sari :)
My pleasure! (Although it's every *other* week, alternating with open threads...)
Wonderfully eclectic round up. I love The Old Lady Project especially after watching two brilliant actresses over 60 in Nyad.
Thank you!

A great movie!
Hubby and I were sobbing at the end.
Watched it with my wife and some open water swimmer friends, all over 60. We all loved it.
You're on Whidbey! We are in Kent.:) Do your friends swim in the sound?
Yes, and I occasionally join them.

Thank you!!! Good to know. I'll check that out.
LOTS AND LOTS of good stuff--and Modern Sounds is already promising to be a great Playlist
<3
Nothing has made me feel old quite like the phrase "50th anniversary of hip-hop." Sheesh.

I can’t wait!
Thank you.
Thank YOU.

My pleasure, Val. 💕

And if I'm allowed one more suggestion, I'd love to hear from Rose Marcario: https://www.nytimes.com/2021/02/18/business/rose-marcario-patagonia-corner-office.html
Glad you liked that. I'll check this link out. Thanks!
