MEM's "Ward 81" is a powerful vision of lives lived with mental illness. May, being the month we consider those lives lived in the shadows, I encourage you to get there before it closes this Sunday May4th.
I recently launched my book #thepartsofhimikept in that space. It felt destined to be. Thank you Martha for documenting the lives we often turn away from.
Yes, I can add a word or two. I am 91, and just published my memoir titled TRAIL BLAZING THE UNKNOWN, An Adventurous Life. The book has over 300 color photos from my travels around the world, the adventurous way, yes believe it or not, it was a "tour de force".
You can order the book on www.wanderlustconsulting.com I also write on substack, about travels in California. Leo Le Bon
Sari - thank you so much for sharing the anthology here! We are so grateful to have your voice in the mix and are so appreciative that you joined us. Love your weekly round ups and thoughtful curation of what to read, watch and listen to!
Highly recommend THIS CHAIR ROCKS:A MANIFESTO AGAINST AGEISM by Ashton Applewhite. She's also got a great video going around social media with Jane Fonda. "Age" is an attitude of our own choosing, not an accumulation of revolutions around the sun! And all generations are in this together, so let's not isolate.
Loved the AD video of Walton Goggins's house. (I wish they'd provide links to info about the art, though.) Does anyone other than me scope these videos to see what books are on the featured person's shelves? :) Also, am entertaining myself lately by talking like Goggins's character "Uncle Baby Billy" from The Righteous Gemstones. I'm a big fan.
Thank you for the generous shout out, Sari! We are SO thrilled to include your special voice in Midlife Private Parts- thank you for being a part of it! Also, that photo of your dad!
LOVE the pic of your dad in his Oldster T!
Thanks! Me, too.

It was the perfect setting for your book event!

Amazing. Congrats!
I love these round-ups, but I must say I never expected that Walton Goggins would become a sex symbol...how the hell did that happen?
So much here to get me out of my own head...Sam Sifton left every NYT cooking letter with a culture romp I was missing...thanks for this!
Thanks for some new tunes to listen to this week!!
Enjoy!

He's so good. I need to give The Righteous Gemstones another try. I stopped watching after a few eps.
Thanks for mentioning the female photographers - still neglected
You seem to been more quiet of late Sari - hope all is well
