Ava, in 3 yrs, you'll be directing a film based on my book, 14 Flags! I will insist on you in the contact I haven't gotten yet--but am manifesting! 😊 CLOCK IT!

My interview about the manuscript ust posted on Your Feminist Book Club podcast. https://open.spotify.com/episode/6uFRMFCq8znSwDOiXVjaHs?si=oII5EcwkRoS05-ptU6KUqQ

Ah! I loved so much of your interview, but especially this: "This bad thing isn't happening to you. This bad thing is happening for you." What a perspective shift. Thank you, Ava! (And Oprah!) And, Sari, I hope you'll do a week-long bash for your upcoming milestone birthday!!!

Total game-changer! I have had enough experiences with “bad” things that led me in a better direction that I believe it. Oh, and I have got some plans in the works…

This is the first Oldster interview I’ve read twice in a row. So many takeaways… Just forwarded it to my sister. Thank you, Ava! Thank you, Sari!

Ladies....best interview conversation ever....am an elder care consultant...loved these questions...and your answers.....Talking points about death...Eco burials...I have attended them...washed bodies...been bedside with dying loved ones...I help my Mom die laughing...she. named me after Paul Robeson...so I crawled into bed with her and sang Ol Man River...she chortled.. then died...because the joke in our family is that no one can sing...

Middle of Nowhere...my fav Ava film...acting, pacing, story...has all the elements that touch the soul...

I am 72 and feel young for my age: mostly I want to dance. Just put on some good soul and funk, and I am in my groove. Some James Brown, Marvin, Aretha, EWFire, Chicago...tis my happy face. Also no husband, no kids...but great circles of good peoples. Love Ava's answers: letting go of toxicity and focusing on care that matters. Struggling with family deaths, goal stay curious.

What a great conversation! I love that each of you asked questions of the other.

There's so much gold in here I can't even pick out one thread, but the whole conversation made me so grateful to be in this cohort of women in their 50s and 60s who are fully coming from our power and creating things that serve the world in diverse ways. I intend to keep coming back to this conversation any time I feel untethered from a sense of purpose or when I feel that aging is a burden rather than a gift. The two of you embody a vibrancy and curiosity in this conversation that feels so inspiring to me.

I'm also grateful for the transcript which makes it easier to find the nuggets of wisdom here.

So glad this resonated, Maia! I loved talking with Ava. Funny, last night I said to my husband that it felt just like talking to a close friend. And thanks for sharing this to Notes!

This was one of my favorite interview so far Sari, as a woman in my late 50s who's pivoted into writing from photography as a career, Ava left an impression on me. I've loved her work and glad to go deeper. Always grateful for Oldster!!

Sari Botton's avatar

Thank you, Robin!!! Great to know you pivoted successfully, too. So glad to know you’re loving Oldster. <3
