How about We Are Lady Parts on Peacock if you haven't already seen it, stellar, and real musicians as well. And Jeni's ice cream has just introduced a flavor in combination with the band Goose :) Goose Tracks. I also just finished a Norwegian show on Netflix which is multigenerational and bittersweet, Pernille. NYT recommended

I’m reading The Light Eaters by Zoë Schlanger, a book on plants and what they can do. It’s truly amazing, great writing combined with mind blowing revelations, all based on science. You will never see your house and garden plants the same way again.

Ooh, I’m going to get that for Brian, who loves plants and gardening. Thanks for the rec!

Cologuard 💯‼️ A little weird to poo in a bucket and take it to the UPS store, but damn, so worth it. No disgusting tasting prep, no colon cleanse, no sedative, no missing work. My health insurance sent me the kit, so included in my premium. Three years until the next one. 😊

Good to know! Thank you.

That was meant to respond for your request for colonoscopy alternatives. Not sure if it read that way. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Sari Botton's avatar

Yes, I got that! (There’s an entry in the list of links about mailing in poop…)

That's what I did end up doing (Thanks for the shout out Sari.) It is... an interesting experience. But at least I got to do it at home.

Sari Botton's avatar

Nice! (My pleasure.) I'm guessing you don't have to do the awful prep you have to do for a colonoscopy?

Claire Zulkey's avatar

no, but the directions also say basically "You have to send us a 'nice' sample" and you never exactly know what you're gonna get sometimes so that gives you stage fright. But then when you're done you mix it up (gross!) with some special liquid for the testing.

Sari Botton's avatar

OMG. Terrifying and gross.

Ben Shahn at the Jewish Museum reminds us we have been up against today’s social and artistic issues before.

Sari Botton's avatar

Yes! Mentioned that show in a recent link roundup. On my list. Thank you!

Anyone in the DC, Maryland, Virginia area, the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond has a Frida Kahlo exhibit Frida: Beyond the Myth. Fabulous! It runs through September 28th.

There's so much good stuff here! I'm especially grateful for the reminder about Love & Mercy. Watching this weekend.

Sari Botton's avatar

It’s such a moving portrait.

Also enjoying Stick two episodes in. Started to watch because after finishing Your Friends and Neighbors, I was so sad it was over, I needed to watch whatever AppleTV foisted upon me. Have you watched Your Friends and Neighbors???

Sari Botton's avatar

We started YFAN but watching another show about unscrupulous rich people was bumming me out. Is it worth sticking with?

Wendy Goodman's avatar

Believe it or not, it is.

Sari Botton's avatar

I’ll give it another go. Thanks!

Thanks for the rec!

Hi Sari,

I happily pay for my subscription to Oldster, however, I do not support The NYT with my money. I am kindly asking, if it is possible, for you to gift link any NYT articles? I totally understand if this is too much of an ask as I have no idea what that would entail on your part. Thanks for considering. Sharyn

Sari Botton's avatar

Hi, Sharyn. Pretty sure my NYT links are all gift links? If I missed one, let me know and I’ll fix it. Thank you for supporting my work!

Sharyn NT's avatar

Huh, I get blocked from the "I say this as someone who lived there for nine years,..." link. Perhaps it's just on my end then, so don't spend an inordinate amount of time checking on it. Thanks so much for responding.

Sari Botton's avatar

Hey, Sharyn. You were right—I'd forgotten to make that one a gift link. I've since updated it. Here it is so you don't have to search for it: https://www.nytimes.com/2007/09/23/nyregion/23spa.html?unlocked_article_code=1.Ok8.2bwf.kT5mAEKezzQX&smid=url-share

Aw, Sari, you're the best! I appreciate being able to read the article.
