Gen X here. I’ve been heartened and hopeful at every protest I’ve been to lately to see the high numbers of people a generation or two older than me in attendance. It also gives me ease and excitement about aging into my wisdom and continued activism!
You, madam, are a dynamo! An old boss of mine displayed that cliche plaque “what would you attempt if you knew you couldn’t fail?” on his desk. You actually live that. It’s inspirational. And thx for pointing the way to actions I will now surely take. Go Oldsters go!
As always, thanks Sari for sharing how you and many others feel at this time in our lives. I always look forward to your posts because they give me strength and hope, along with solid ideas of taking action and resources with links to others out there who are doing great work.
Yes. This: "While I’ve felt terrified by the violence I’ve seen in videos from Minneapolis, Portland, and elsewhere this past week, I’ve realized I am not willing to forfeit my basic democratic rights—free speech, dissent, assembly, peaceful protest—nor to simply assume they’ve been abolished because someone has fashioned himself as a dictator." Thanks, Sari.
Kirie- so agree heartened by your words, and the leadership shown by Canada’s PM in his Davos speech. We need to take down our signs of “going along to get along.”
One of my college professors had a sign in his office that said, “Live and help live” (in contrast to the usual saying, “live and let live”). He taught theology and just retired (in his 80s, I think; he was my professor from 1986 - 1990).
I really love that you are finding ways to have fun. Even hearing about it took my mind off my extreme agitation for a spell. And... Marty Supreme? I still can't tell if I loved or hated it. Probably both. And I so wish I could be there for the Oldster Variety Hour. You know that a Chorus Line even makes its way into my memoir about living in a cult. Although my best number was "Nothing," "What I Did for Love"... well, maybe that should have been the title of my book. xo
Playing Rummikub helps a lot. Our friends call it "Go" because that's what we say when a player has played all that that person can. "Go" signifies that now it's the next person's turn.
Distractions really help. As does chocolate as Professor Lupin kept reminding Harry.
And having something positive to look forward to helps as well. Thanks for writing, Sari. 🥕💜🥕
I believe that being against freedom and for democracy is ridiculous. First president in a while that says what he thinks and wants to save our country. I am a subscriber now but I seem to be out of the center of things. Did not realize this was a political spot. I am 89 and miss all the freedoms that politicians have taken concern my younger days. Go fly a kite.
Thanks for your support, Orr. All publications have points of view, and this one is pro-democracy. Most of my posts are not about this, but at this moment, I feel compelled to touch on it. If you want your money back, I'll be happy to refund you.

Well done by her and the group
I love your posts! Also, I love your logo. Would you consider selling merch - I'd buy at least a t-shirt!
Thank you, Jean! I have merch!!! https://www.etsy.com/shop/OldsterMagazineMerch
Thanks for sharing what gives you hope. It's hard to find these days! xx
It really is in short order. Need to find and make more! xo
Yes to hope. And yes to resistance. Thank you for this.

Still turning Marty Supreme over in my mind. There will be video from the event. My best was always At the Ballet... (Maggie's part.) <3
There is always hope ♥️

I wish I lived closer to NYC to attend.
You’re in luck, Tom. I’m going to make video available afterward!
Yay! Let me know!
Yes I want money back
I’ve just issued you a full refund. It might take 7-10 days to show up in your bank.
